In its last scheduled meeting of 2021, the Augusta Commission votes Tuesday on redrawn commission and Richmond County Board of Education district lines. The redistricting committee recommended a controversial plan that moves older areas of District 3 into District 2 to accommodate for heavy District 3 population growth around Fort Gordon.
The map is expected to pass, but the commission doesn't have the last word. It goes before the school board Dec. 14 for approval, then to Augusta legislators, who submit a map to the state House and Senate.
