The Apartment Association of Greater Augusta’s charity golf fundraiser gets bigger and better every year. The 2022 Tee Off Fore Tatas tournament raised $64,565.13 for the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University to go toward breast cancer research.

This broke the previous year’s record by over $20,000.

"We are beyond thrilled over how much more money we raised this past year,” said event chair Shelly Martin. “We increased a few of our sponsorship level amounts, and the community responded positively, showing that the cause is important and that it is one of the most fun tournaments in this area."

The tournament was held Oct. 7 at Mount Vintage Golf Club with title sponsors ATC Development, Cherry Bekaert LLP, and South State Bank.

AAGA gave the funds to the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University during a check presentation on Dec. 15.

The golf tournament began in 2006, initially raising money for various charities in the Central Savannah River Area. In 2010 it officially changed its name to Tee Off Fore Tatas to focus on raising awareness and support for breast cancer research. Since then, over $275,000 has been raised for the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University.

"We hope to keep our momentum and have another spectacular tournament on October 6, 2023," said Martin.

The Georgia Cancer Center is a multi-disciplinary academic cancer center whose mission is to reduce the burden of cancer in Georgia and across the globe through superior care, innovation, and education.
