Tammy Shepherd joins Augusta Technical College Board of Directors

Augusta Technical College is pleased to announce that Mrs. Tammy Shepherd has been elected to the Augusta Technical College Board of Directors.

Mrs. Shepherd is the President/CEO for SOAR Nonprofit Solutions, LLC, which she started as a way to work with chambers and nonprofits to strengthen their overall organization, mentor new executives, and make a positive impact for their communities. Prior to founding her consulting company, Shepherd served as the President/CEO of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce for 12 years, while also creating a Chamber Foundation, Political Action Committee, and Holdings Corporations during her tenure.

“I am proud to serve an organization whose mission aligns with my career long passion for workforce and education development in the Greater Augusta area," stated Mrs. Shepherd.

Shepherd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Recreation from Georgia Southern University. She has attended the Institute for Organization Management through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and holds an IOM Certified Chamber Executive Program Diploma, and holds certification as a Georgia Certified Chamber Executive and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development.

Shepherd has an extensive history of servant leadership. She is a former board member of the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation and has served on various boards and committees throughout her professional tenure including the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Board, SRS Community Reuse Organization Board, CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon Advisory Board, and as an Ex-Officio member of the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Development Authority of Columbia County.

She's very knowledgeable about workforce development through her prior work of leading the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce. She also brings strong skillsets in advocacy, policy formation, and community engagement that will strengthen our ability to move the college forward," stated College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl.

Mrs. Shepherd has lived in Columbia County since 1976 and in Georgia her entire life. She has been married to T. Stan Shepherd, Regional Director for AT&T, for 34 years. They have two boys, Cody and Jake, daughters-in-law, Jessica and Madison, and two grandchildren, all living in the Greater Augusta area.
