Golden Harvest Food Bank is pleased to announce the receipt of a $10,500 grant from Bank of America to bolster its Urban Farm. Employees from the Greater Augusta-Aiken Bank of America branch will also volunteer at The Master's Table soup kitchen, located next to the Urban Farm, on November 15th at 10am. This grant follows previous contributions from Bank of America that have gone toward renovating the farm and updating its greenhouse.
Bank of America has worked with nonprofit partners and local organizations in Augusta to help drive economic mobility and social progress in vulnerable populations. One in nine people in Golden Harvest Food Bank’s service area are food insecure, including one in six children. With inflation and rising food costs, the food bank has seen a significant increase in the number of people reaching out for and receiving food assistance.
“The support of corporate partners like Bank of America is invaluable to our mission of providing food assistance to those we are charged to serve,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “We are very appreciative of the continuous support from Ora and the entire Greater Augusta-Aiken Bank of America team”.
The Urban Farm provides 95% of its fresh produce to The Master's Table soup kitchen, where more than 300 guests, including families, veterans, and homeless individuals, receive a daily hot meal. The Master's Table operates every day of the year, ensuring that those in need have access to a hot, nutritious meal.
These grants are part of Bank of America’s commitment to responsible growth as it works to improve the financial lives of individuals, families, and entire communities. Philanthropic and volunteer investments continue to play a key role in this effort to build thriving communities.
“Developing strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations like Golden Harvest is essential to driving meaningful and sustainable progress in our community,” said Ora Parish, president, Bank of America Augusta-Aiken. “Golden Harvest’s work is vital in ensuring our neighbors are fed and have access to everyday necessities.”
