Edgar’s Above Broad Brings Rooftop Dining Resort Experience to Downtown Augusta
Wednesday, September 9th, 2020
Edgar’s Above Broad, a new dining concept from Edgar’s Hospitality Group (EHG) in Downtown Augusta, is opening to the public on September 10.
Located on the third-floor terrace of the Augusta University building on the corner of Broad and 7th Streets, Edgar’s Above Broad is the second hospitality venue in the building affiliated with Edgar’s Hospitality Group, which also manages The Pinnacle Club on the 17th floor.
The new 17,000 square foot restaurant and entertainment venue provides views of the burgeoning arts and entertainment district on Broad Street and has ample space for social distancing fun. The celebrated Miller Theater and the Imperial Theatre are both within a block, and the Savannah Riverfront is also within walking distance. The indoor-outdoor atmosphere features a custom Airstream-turned gathering oasis for delicious beverages, installed onto the terrace earlier this year, alongside a bocce ball court, a giant checkers board and a putting green, with seating for up to 500 at full capacity – plus, canopies, misting machines and heaters making it fit for any season in Georgia. Indoors, find an expansive bar with retractable bay doors allowing in fresh air, in addition to seating for up to 84.
Pinnacle Club members will enjoy exclusive members-only benefits at Edgar’s Above Broad, including reserved parking, priority VIP seating, first access to ticketed events, charging privileges on their Pinnacle Club account and a discount on food and beverages.
“At Edgar’s Hospitality Group, we operate under the mantra, ‘Come Hungry. Leave Fulfilled,’” said James Stiff, President of Goodwill of Middle Georgia, the umbrella organization for Edgar’s Hospitality Group. EHG venues provide unique experiential learning opportunities for culinary students of Helms College, the career college sponsored by Goodwill. Both entities were named in honor of Goodwill’s social enterprise founder, Rev. Edgar Helms. “When you enjoy culinary delights and delicious beverages, you help others build new career pathways. Come party for a purpose at Edgar’s.”
The menu, spearheaded by executive chef and culinary operations director Frank Kassner – who joined the team earlier this summer from the Montage Palmetto Bluff and a 17-year career with The Ritz-Carlton – plans to focus on small plates and grab-and-go items, accompanied by a dedicated craft cocktail program, making Edgar’s Above Broad a must-visit for both locals and visitors alike to safely gather and enjoy with friends and family.
In addition to the venues at 699 Broad Street, Edgar’s Hospitality Group manages Augusta-favorite Edgar’s Grille and meeting and event space Snelling Conference Center. In Macon, EHG operates the Anderson Conference Center and Edgar’s Bistro.
Edgar’s Above Broad will be open Wednesday through Friday. Dinner will be served Wednesday and Thursday from 5-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight. In late September breakfast and lunch will be added Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Social distancing plus local guidelines regarding face covering and occupancy limits will be observed.
