Augusta Regional Airport Begins Baggage Claim Carousel Replacement Project
Friday, April 30th, 2021
Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) continues with the Advancing Growing Stronger (AGS) Campaign with the initiation of the Baggage Claim Carousel Replacement Project. The Advancing Growing Stronger Campaign was created to highlight several of the Airport’s customer-centric capital improvement projects.
The $2.4 million dollar Baggage Claim Carousel Replacement Project is scheduled to begin on April 27 and should conclude in the September/October 2021 timeframe. The project consists of replacing and upgrading the existing baggage claim carousel system, replacing outbound baggage conveyors, adding a new oversize bag slide, constructing two new baggage service offices, and additional cosmetic upgrades including terrazzo flooring, fresh paint schemes, and access improvements.
This project is being funded by a combination of Federal Airport Improvement Program Grants and Airport Passenger Facility Charges (user fees).
Effective immediately, Airport patrons will see barriers and active construction in these areas. Airport management asks that you please pardon the temporary inconvenience while this project is on-going.
“As we plan for growth and focus on Airport improvements, this project epitomizes our commitment to enhance the Airport passenger experience.” Said, Herbert L. Judon Jr., Airport Executive Director. “Once completed, the Augusta Regional Airport will have state of the art baggage conveyance systems that will significantly improve efficiencies.”
