Through sound planning and strong fiscal responsibility, the City of Augusta accomplished a lengthy list of critical goals last year. This includes implementing one of the state's top three emergency rental assistance programs, upgrades to parks and recreation facilities, and launching an array of new services and programs while mitigating the pandemic's negative impacts highlighted by the newly released 2021 Impact Report.

The FY2021 Impact report provides a summary of operational activities in the form of an annual report, which summarizes how Augusta has leveraged various resources and tools to engage the community, establish clear priorities, and enhance collaboration to improve service delivery despite the ongoing global pandemic.

“During FY2021 Augusta made key operational improvements across departments and programs, improved technology, enhanced citizen engagement activities and focused on delivering world class customer service that highlights our ability to respond to the ever- changing new normal in response to the pandemic,” said Administrator Odie Donald II. “Our major milestones and accomplishments, when viewed together, provide insights into the City's most common themes - inclusion and transparency.”

Highlights from the report include:

  • More than 540,000+ transit riders

  • ISO Rating of 1 for the Augusta Fire Department

  • Distribution of 162 Small Business Grants

  • 1,500+ Potholes repaired

  • Average of 40 million gallons of water treated daily

  • 45,000 Parks program participants

  • 114,000+ meals to Richmond County Senior Citizens to mitigate the pandemic

  • Augusta E-911 being awarded the 2021 APCO International Leadership in Technology

    (Small Agency) Award.

  • Augusta revitalizing the Parks and Recreation system, including taking key steps to implement the parks master plan. This includes more than $10 million in parks infrastructure improvements, highlighted by the $300,000 renovation of the Augusta Aquatic Center.
