YMCA Kicks-off 2022 Annual Fundraiser
Wednesday, February 16th, 2022
The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta is a key resource in bringing people together, bridging gaps, supporting community needs and providing opportunities for youth, adults and seniors. Through the continued generosity of our community each year, the Y has been successful in achieving this goal.
This year’s “All In: For a Better Us” campaign launched Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at SRP Park’s WOW! Club. The 2022 campaign aims to raise $1,276,000, which will support more than $2 million scholarships awarded annually for Y programs and membership. Donations ensure that the Y is an organization for all, regardless of ability to pay.
“We are thrilled and very grateful with the way each year’s campaign has helped so many members in our deserving community,” said Danny McConnell, President and CEO. “This is a true representation of our mission to serve families and individuals across the CSRA.”
As one of the nation’s leading nonprofits, the Y is dedicated to improving community health, providing life-saving resources, developing future leaders and supporting achievement for all. Every year, the Y’s Annual Campaign raises funds to support their financial assistance fund, as well as outreach programs. Outreach programs were developed in response to community needs, including:
- A Place to Dream provides beds, linens, Bibles and stuffed animals for children with unfavorable sleeping arrangements. 1,300 beds have been donated to families since the program began in 2017.
- Cheryl’s Kitchen Food Program distributes meals to individuals and children in need through a combination of mobile sites and YMCA facilities. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, 2,000,000 meals have been distributed across the CSRA.
- Safety Around Water teaches children life-saving water safety skills at no cost.
- Camp I.V.E.Y. is a week-long, overnight summer camp for children with disabilities.
- LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and wellbeing following a cancer diagnosis.
