Columbia County Chamber Foundation To Host Career & College Expo
Friday, March 3rd, 2023
The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Columbia County School District, will host the Fourth Annual Columbia County Career and College Expo on Thursday, March 9 at the Columbia County Exhibition Center in Grovetown, presented by Georgia Power and Southern Nuclear.
The event, which targets area middle school and high school students and parents, gets underway at 4:00 p.m. Breakout sessions in dual enrollment, financial aid and work-based learning will be held throughout the evening.
The goal of the expo is to identify clear pathways from middle and high school to a future career, whether that includes a four-year degree or a two-year degree at a technical school or trade school, or it may also include options to go directly into the workforce. Designed to educate both middle and high students and parents on the vast career opportunities available, this initiative aligns the educational, technical and trade sectors with businesses.
Some of the colleges and universities scheduled to participate include: Augusta University, College of Coastal Georgia, Georgia College & State University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, University of Alabama, University of Georgia, University of Tennessee and Valdosta State University along with Augusta Tech and Florida Tech.
Among the businesses scheduled to participate include: Augusta National, Augusta University Health, Busby’s Heating & Air, Doctors Hospital, Georgia Cyber Center, Georgia Power Company, John Deere, Kendrick’s Paint & Body, SRP Federal Credit Union and Walmart.
Other sponsors include City of Grovetown, Columbia County Board of Education and Augusta University Health.
