Golden Harvest Food Bank Invites Community Leaders to Address Hunger
Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023
On May 4th at 10am, Golden Harvest Food Bank is hosting a roundtable discussion addressing the issue of hunger in the community. The event will bring together elected officials and community leaders in the organization’s 25-county service area to discuss the important steps toward ending food insecurity. The location of the event is 3310 Commerce Drive Augusta, GA 30909.
Data from Feeding America shows that 1 in 8 in the Food Bank's service area are food insecure. Golden Harvest Food Bank recognizes the important role that elected officials and community leaders have in addressing the issues of hunger and food insecurity, and invite them to join the conversation on how we can all build a stronger food system together.
“We are thrilled to have our community leaders join us to discuss the steps towards ending food insecurity in our area,” says Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “Through this collective effort we hope to combine resources and share ideas on how to make sure that all of our neighbors across our service area have continued access to healthy and nutritious food.”
Following the roundtable discussion will be a tour of the food bank’s newly expanded facilities at its main Augusta warehouse. Press members are invited to attend the event and are also invited to speak with elected officials at the conclusion of the tour.
