The Chamber presented two awards: Ambassador of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
Reuben Cooper was presented the award for 2023 Ambassador of the Year. The Ambassador of the Year award honors a Chamber Ambassador who has volunteered many hours of time, talent and energy to the success and growth of the North Augusta Chamber. “Mr. Reuben joined the ambassador council in 2022 and has been dedicated to all of the aspects of being a Chamber volunteer. He is a pleasure to work with”, says Chamber president Terra Carroll. Reuben has a well-established track record and reputation of being an active volunteer in the CSRA. Reuben is the Founder of Second Step for Warriors, a non-profit organization that was founded in 2016 to help veteran’s transition into civilian life. Congratulations Reuben!
Bruce and Betty Wilson were presented the award for 2023 Citizens of the Year. Arriving in North Augusta in the early 1970’s, Bruce and Betty Wilson sought out ways to become a part of the community. Bruce retired from the Savannah River Site in 2008, after 35 years of service as a Chemical Engineer. Betty retired from Piedmont in 2012, after serving 38 years as a Registered Nurse. They both hold various volunteer roles at their Church (Grace United); at Piedmont Hospital; Sheppard Community Blood Center coordinating blood drives; and, Habitat for Humanity. “They have both worked tirelessly to make the human condition and community of North Augusta better…”, says Linda Smith, nominator. “Their volunteer efforts as well as their professional lives make those with whom they come into contact better for having known them”, she adds. “All who know them are the benefactors of their kindness.” Congratulations Bruce and Betty!
