Cal Wray to Present at Augusta Metro Chamber’s First Member Economic Luncheon of 2025

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the speaker for our first Member Economic Luncheon of 2025. Cal Wray, EDFP, President of the Augusta Economic Development Authority, will headline the event with a presentation titled “Next Up Augusta – Projects, Wins, & What’s Next.” The luncheon will be held on Thursday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, located at 2 10th Street in downtown Augusta.

Cal Wray began serving as the President of the Augusta Economic Development Authority in January 2018. The Augusta EDA works to recruit new manufacturing, distribution, assembly, and related industrial facilities to Augusta, Georgia as well as retail, commercial, and other developments that will create jobs and bring investment to all of Richmond County, Georgia. Since his arrival, the Development Authority has announced 55+ new, expanding, and retail projects encompassing $4 Billion in new capital investment and 4,245 new and retained jobs. 

Before arriving in Richmond County, Cal served as Executive Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) and Aspire Clarksville Foundation from March 2014 to January 2018, where he helped recruit over $960 million in capital investment and 1,000 jobs. He also served as Vice-President and later President of the Dublin‐Laurens County Development Authority (DLCDA) from June 2007 to 2010, overseeing $291 million in capital investment, 43 new and expanding industries, and 1,200 new jobs.

Cal holds a BA with Honors in Russian, European Studies, and Economics from Vanderbilt University, a Master’s in International Affairs from Georgia Tech, and is a certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP). He was named one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers by Consultant Connect in 2015, 2021, and 2022. Cal completed the inaugural Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program in 2018, earning the Master Practitioner Designation. He serves as Chairman of the Georgia Economic Developer’s Association (GEDA) and is actively involved in several other economic development organizations.
