United Way of the CSRA Launches Annual Campaign with Bold New Impact Goal
Monday, August 25th, 2025
On Friday, August 22, 2025, United Way of the CSRA officially kicked off its annual campaign surrounded by local community leaders and volunteers, by unveiling this year’s powerful theme, “United Is The Way.” Instead of a traditional fundraising goal, United Way has set a bold new goal focused on long-term community impact – to help 30,000 ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households across the CSRA by 2030.
“Nearly half of households in our 13-county area struggle financially, and too many fall into the ALICE category. These are families who are working hard, often in multiple jobs, but still can’t cover the basics – rent, childcare, healthcare, or transportation, and one setback could send them into a financial crisis,” said Brittany Burnett, President & CEO of United Way of the CSRA. “By setting this goal to help 30,000 ALICE households by 2030, we’re committing to long-term, measurable change for families who are living right here in our community.”
In 2024, United Way of the CSRA and its partners touched the lives of 129,950 individuals throughout the region – a number expected to increase this year thanks to continued collaboration with corporate partners, nonprofits, and community leaders.
Following the kickoff event, hundreds of volunteers took part in Project Serve, lending their time and talents to local nonprofits across the region. Volunteers provided hundreds of hours of service through projects such as facility improvements, neighborhood beautification, and food distribution, creating an immediate and lasting impact on the community.
This year’s campaign will build on the momentum of previous years, combining financial resources, volunteer service, and community partnerships to create a stronger, more resilient CSRA.
2025 Board Chair, Joe Klecha of The Nuclear Company, echoed Burnett’s message. “United is the Way forward for our community. Together, we can ensure that every family has access to the support and opportunities they need not just to survive, but to thrive. The campaign kickoff and Project Serve are powerful reminders that when we come together, real change happens.”
