MCG Foundation President & CEO Jim Osborne to Retire

After 26 years as President & CEO of the Medical College of Georgia Foundation, James B. “Jim” Osborne, Sr., EdD has announced plans to retire in June 2016. Dr. Osborne announced the news through a letter to the Board in March, citing both the growth and stability of the Foundation during his tenure. The early announcement will allow for an orderly transition and will give the newly appointed successor, Foundation COO Ian Mercier, time to prepare for the new role.

EdenCrete to Create 250 Jobs in Augusta

The Augusta Economic Development Authority announced that EdenCrete Industries Inc., a manufacturer of carbon nanotube enriched solutions, will establish its global manufacturing headquarters operation in Augusta. This project represents the creation of more than 250 new jobs and an overall investment of $67 million in the local community.

Hull Barrett: Doubling Down on Overtime Exemption

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires that covered, nonexempt employees in the United States be paid at least the Federal minimum wage for each hour worked and receive overtime pay at one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
