Georgia Tech’s GaMEP is Driving Innovation in Manufacturing Across Georgia

“A stitch in time saves nine,” goes the old saying. For a company in Georgia that adage became very real when damage to a key piece of machinery threatened its operation. The group helping with the stitch in time was the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), a Georgia Tech program that — for more than 60 years — has been helping small- to medium-sized manufacturers in Georgia stay competitive and grow, boosting economic development across the state.

MARTA Railcars Head for Atlantic Ocean as Part of Department of Natural Resources Reef Project

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority shipped off the first of two railcars bound for the Georgia coast and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. MARTA is partnering with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Reef Project to contribute railcars from MARTA’s original fleet as they are replaced by new railcars in coming years.

Hyundai Motor Group & LG Energy Solution to Invest Additional $2B in Bryan County

Governor Brian Kemp announced that Hyundai Motor Group & LG Energy Solution will invest an additional $2 billion in their battery cell manufacturing joint venture at the Metaplant in Bryan County, raising the JV’s total investment value to more than $4.3 billion.
