Georgia’s Banks Post Strong 2021 Results

Georgia’s 150 FDIC-insured banks closed out 2021 with net income of $1.9 billion, a 52.2% increase from year-end 2020, according to FDIC data released Tuesday. Loans were up 6.5%, deposits grew by 14.2% and total assets increased by 13.3%. Credit quality also remains extremely strong, with noncurrent loans and charge-offs declining from already low levels.

Port of Savannah to Grow Capacity by 60%

At Savannah State of the Port, Griff Lynch, Georgia Ports Authority’s executive director, unveiled plans to expand the port’s container capacity by 60 percent. The enhancements will bring the Port of Savannah’s annual capacity from 6 million twenty-foot equivalent container units to 9.5 million TEUs by 2025.

Golden Harvest Food Bank Celebrates 40 Years of Feeding the Hungry

On February 25, 1982, a local citizens committee comprised of clergy, heads of social service agencies, business leaders, and county government officials decided to fight hunger by incorporating a new non-profit organization called a Food Bank.
