3 Georgia Schools on U.S. News’ Top Universities List

Three Georgia schools are listed among the Top 100 schools in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report "Top National Universities" rankings. The 2014 rankings offer data on nearly 1,800 schools, including tuition and graduation rates, the magazine says.

Georgia schools that made the Top 100 are: Emory University at No. 20, Georgia Tech at No. 36, and University of Georgia at No. 60.

The list has been compiled annually or 25 years. The rankings are based on new methodology this year, reports USA Today. Graduation-related data account for 30 percent of the rankings, making it the most-heavily weighted factor. Student selectivity, based on class rank and standardized test scores, accounts for 12.5 percent of the formula, down from 15 percent last year. Other key factors include a school's reputation among peers and faculty resources, the paper said.
