Georgia #22 in Government Shutdown Impact

Georgia is in the middle of the pack in terms of states affected by the federal government shutdown.

The Peach State ranks 22nd in impact from the budget impasse that forced many government agencies to cease operations one week ago Tuesday, according to WalletHub, a personal financial social network.

States at the top of the list have more federal employees per capita than Georgia or receive more federal contract money per capita.

The only category the survey measured where Georgia featured prominently was its No.-1 ranking in federal applications for student aid per capita. Indeed, any significant disruptions to student aid programs would hit Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina and Louisiana harder than any other states, according to WalletHub.
