TAG Education Collaborative to Participate in Georgia Gives Day
Press release from the issuing company
Friday, November 1st, 2013
TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) is excited to participate in the second annual Georgia Gives Day on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013. This online fundraiser will benefit participating local nonprofits across the state.
Georgia Gives Day brings the state together as one community to help build capacity for local charities throughout Georgia. In 2012, the inaugural Georgia Gives Day brought more than 1,300 participating nonprofits together with nearly 7,000 unique donors in one day of giving via the Georgia Gives Day website. To date, Georgia Gives has raised more than $900,000 for these nonprofits.
By 2018, Georgia will need to fill 211,000 technology jobs, but our pool of qualified workers is diminishing. In order to maintain Georgia’s leadership position in technology and innovation, we need to invest in our future workforce: today’s student. TAG-Ed plans to use Georgia Gives Day donations to provide post-secondary scholarships to middle and high school students, fund paid summer internships at non-profit and start-up organizations, and develop hands-on Georgia STEM Day programs and activities for K-12 audiences across the state.
