Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport experienced a 5.6% increase of Thanksgiving travelers this year, compared to the holiday week in 2012. While Airport officials had predicted an increase of 3.3%, final tallies indicate that more than 1.8 million passengers passed through Hartsfield-Jackson between November 25 and December 2 this season.
“This year’s Thanksgiving travel season went very smoothly at Hartsfield-Jackson,” said Hartsfield-Jackson General Manager Louis Miller. “While nationally air travel for Thanksgiving declined this year, we not only saw an increase in passengers at the world’s busiest airport, but we were able to efficiently assist our customers in reaching their final destinations without any significant delays or wait times.”
Hartsfield-Jackson’s busiest travel day this season was Monday, December 3, with more than 282,000 passengers passing through the Airport.
