HoneyBaked Plans to Donate 1 Million Meals This Holiday Season

Press release from the issuing company

Monday, December 2nd, 2013

oneyBaked* today launched an effort to donate 1 million meals this holiday season in partnership with Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief organization.

Each dollar that is donated to Feeding America will help provide nine meals to local food banks across the country.

According to the USDA, 49 million Americans live in food insecure households, including 15.9 million children. Food insecurity exists in every county in America.

As part of its commitment to eliminating hunger in America, HoneyBaked in 2012 helped provide 250,000 meals to Feeding America, nearly tripling its goal from the previous year. This year HoneyBaked has increased its goal to help provide 1 million meals. To date, HoneyBaked has secured more than 1.3 million meals through customer donations and company matching programs to Feeding America.

"We hope our customers join us in our effort to help those in need this holiday season," said Maggie DeCan, COO of HoneyBaked. "Through the stresses and joys of the holidays, we are also reminded of our blessings and hope this effort will encourage giving in all of our stores."

From Nov. 18, 2013 to Jan. 5, 2014, HoneyBaked stores will accept register donations, 100 percent of which will support Feeding America and its local member food banks. To find out how you can help fight hunger in your community, visit feedingamerica.org.
