Girl Scouts of Historic Augusta Get Ready for Cookie Business

Saturday morning, 20,166 cases of Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs and other annual Girl Scout cookie favorites waited on pallets to be picked up by Augusta troop leaders.

At Augusta Delivery Service, leaders loaded trucks, trailers, vans and U-Hauls with cookies to carry back to their troops. Some boxes will fill orders that have already been placed; some will be sold at booths in front of grocery stores and retailers.

“When the girls sell cookies, we try to focus on five skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics,” said Product Sales Manager Susan Saldivar.

She said as a troop leader last year she focused on money management. Saldivar handled the money but had her Daisies explain taking money and making change during a sale.
