Cabela’s Opens for Media Day

Press release from the issuing company

Friday, March 7th, 2014

It is hard to believe that the world’s largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor equipment will be opening their first store in the Southeast United States with the grand opening of the Augusta, Georgia store on March 20th.  Upon entering the store featuring over 70 different trophy animal mounts and museum-quality wildlife displays, you instantly understand the impact a store of this magnitude will bring to the area.

Together with Costco, Cabela’s will anchor the shopping center, “The Village at Riverwatch” with an impressive 42,000 square foot building equipped with an indoor archery range, gun counter, and thousands of outdoor products. “The Village at Riverwatch” is also set to begin construction of a new outlet mall, with rumored retailers such as Polo, GAP, JCrew, and Under Armour.  With an expansive location on River Watch Parkway, it will be in the direct path of many golf fans traveling down Alexander Drive on the way to the Augusta National golf course.

As mentioned before, the impact a store such as Cabela’s could have on this area will be substantial.  It will be providing approximately 90 full-time and part-time employment opportunities and welcomes General Manager, Bruce Biedenharn. They will include several group and community activities, such as gun safety courses.  Also, with the Augusta location being the only store in the Southeast until the store in Acworth, GA opens in fall of 2014, it is sure to bring traffic from all over the state to shop locally.

The community is invited to the grand opening ceremonies on March 20th at 11 AM.  These ceremonies will include live displays, store tours and a one of a kind archery ribbon cutting ceremony. Also, be sure to purchase a limited time only Cabela’s hat featuring the Augusta location.  It is sure to be as valuable as this new store will be to our community.
