Brown Bag Food Truck Owners Adding Downtown Augusta Restaurant
Thursday, May 15th, 2014
The Brown Bag food truck is no longer just a four-wheeled restaurant.
Owner Enrique Romero is opening a business at the corner of 10th and Ellis streets in Augusta within the next two weeks. The Brown Bag Cafe will replace Rooster’s Beak, a 4-year-old Mexican-style restaurant that closed in October.
“We’ve been wanting to take a shot at full-service for a while,” he said. “This is the next step in the progression.”
In 2011, Romero started The Brown Bag with his wife, Carole, and they were among the first to take a food truck to the streets of Augusta. The couple briefly ran a deli shop on the medical campus of what was then Georgia Health Sciences University before they decided to add a full-service establishment, focusing on “eclectic comfort foods” in addition to Southern, Cajun and Hispanic dishes.
