Another Liquor License Fee Increase in Augusta Could Be on the Way

Bill Prince has been running his Broad Street liquor store for more than 50 years, but says he hasn't heard anything about fees going up.
"No sir, I haven't, haven't heard a word...nothing mentioned at all," Prince said.
But, here is what the city is now mentioning for those in the booze business...a big jump in the fees they pay for the privilege to sell alcohol.
“There is a proposal to increase the fees 10 percent. That means, if you have a beer license, it goes up $65...same with a wine [license]," says Rob Sherman, of the Augusta License and Inspections Department.
