Downtown Augusta Building to be Renovated for Sushi Restaurant

The renovation of a downtown building into a sushi restaurant and martini lounge is expected to start this summer.
Jay Klugo, a Clemson, S.C., restaurateur, is investing in 1033 Broad St. and a neighboring lot to open a modern-style sushi dining spot called Sole in early 2015.
Klugo closed on the purchase of the 14,600-square-foot building in June and said he plans to begin interior construction, including the removal of a central wall to open up the space, by late August. He hopes to open in February.
