State of the City: Downtown Augusta
Wednesday, July 30th, 2014
A recent interview with Augusta's mayor turned into an impromptu tour of one of Augusta's newest businesses.
The Metro Market is coming to Broad Street and fueling Deke Copenhaver's optimistic outlook about downtown.
Mayor Copenhaver says, "When you look at the fact that our upscale loft space has a 98-percent occupancy rate, we see new restaurants opening all the time. I think downtown is really on the upswing and the best is yet to come."
Margaret Woodard heads Augusta's Downtown Development Authority. She keeps track of the growth on a special display. Each of the pins shows progress as people and companies come here.
