The Aiken Technical College Foundation will present the 8th annual “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” gala to benefit the ATC Foundation Scholarship Fund on Friday, September 26.
The event is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser each year, and has raised more than $100,000 for ATC student scholarships since 2007. The gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Newberry Hall.
“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? is an exciting event that the community looks forward to each year,” said ATC Foundation Director Mary Commons. “It is a unique event that gives our guests a great night out while helping our students at the same time.”
The gala will include a reception, dinner, drinks, unique auction items and secret entertainment. This year’s event will have a cabaret-like atmosphere and will feature a live auction rather than silent auction.
The name of the gala stems from the event’s annual surprise entertainment. Hints are provided prior to the event, but the entertainer will not be revealed until guests arrive at the gala.
This year’s entertainment hint is: This entertainer was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of ‘Chris’ in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon.
Past entertainment has included Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Broadway star Rob Evans, comedian Jerry Farber, singer Livingston Taylor, Journey Unauthorized and last year’s duo, David Holt & Josh Goforth, “A Two Man Tornado of Tunes and Tales.”
Live auction items include a Wine Gift Basket, Dining Down Whiskey Gift Basket, Wheel Barrow Bar, Golfing through Aiken Gift Basket, Beer Tub, Edisto Beach Weekend Getaway and four tickets to the Disney World Theme Parks in Orlando, FL, plus many other items.
The event’s main sponsors this year are the Savannah River Remediation, Kimberly-Clark and Shaw AREVA MOX Services.
Tickets are $80 each and can be purchased by contacting Mary Commons at (803) 508-7413 or [email protected]. A table of eight can be reserved for $800.
All proceeds from the “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” Gala will benefit the ATC Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Newberry Hall is located at 117 Newberry Street SW in Aiken.
