Plan Opens Georgia Coast to Offshore Drilling

The Obama administration on Tuesday proposed a plan that would open waters off the Atlantic coast, including Georgia, to oil exploration and drilling.
The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s five-year plan includes 14 potential lease sales in eight planning areas — 10 in the Gulf of Mexico, three off the coast of Alaska, and one in a portion of the Mid- and South Atlantic that includes Georgia.
