3-D Printer Use Gains Popularity in Augusta Region

The heated nozzle sputtered, paused and began to drop liquid plastic one layer at a time, until a nut and bolt appeared.

The 3-D printer that created the matching hardware in less than 30 minutes hummed and at times squeaked inside a small office in rural Jefferson County.

“I have worked with this machine so much that I know what it’s doing based on the sound it makes,” said Daniel Nelms, a co-owner of Augusta 3D Printing.
