Augusta Area Rental Market Remaining Hot

Relocating to Columbia County from Ohio in 2013, Josh and Kelsie Saefkow opted to rent.
The couple, who have two young daughters, wanted to get a feel for the area before deciding where to plant roots. The family rented a three-bedroom house near Grovetown for $1,075 a month while they searched for a home close to work and good schools.
When the Saefkows found a three-bedroom, 2½-bathroom home last spring in Candlewood Crossing, they were pleased to see their monthly mortgage payment was $100 less than what they had paid in rent.
