Augusta Metro Chamber Hosts “March for Minds” Today

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Business Education Advisory Council is hosting an educational event on March 12th designed to give business leaders visibility in area high schools and encourage the job opportunities that exist in our region. 18 to 30 area business leaders will “March for Minds” starting with a continental breakfast at the Chamber, a walk to the Richmond County Board of Education, a briefing from the Superintendent and individual school visits. Participating schools include A.R. Johnson, Richmond Country Technical Career Magnet School, Josey, Cross Creek and Hephzibah.
School visits will include a tour provided by student representatives who will discuss the areas in which each school excels. Tours will be followed by a discussion panel led by the business leaders where they will explain the importance of a 2- or 4-year degree or a career credential in achieving goals. Business leaders will also participate in a Q & A session with the students.
Schedule of Events:
9:00 a.m.- Morning reception & gathering at the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce
9:30 a.m. - Walk from the Chamber to the Richmond County Board of Education
Introductory remarks by Dr. Pringle, Superintendent of Richmond County Schools, and Ms. Sue Parr, President/CEO of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce
10:00 a.m.- Depart for schools onboard buses from RCBOE
10:30 a.m.- Estimated arrival and start time for school tours
12:00 p.m.- School sessions conclude
12:30 p.m.- Return to Chamber for lunch and debriefing
