Banks Buy Land Near Evans Shopping Center

One of the largest planned community developments in the metro area, the 3,000-acre Riverwood Plantation in Evans, has attracted the attention of banks.
Security Federal Bank intends to build a three-story professional building near the Publix-anchored shopping center on Washington Road. The bank will occupy the first floor, with two floors of office space available for lease.
According to county property records, the Aiken-based banking company bought land at 5133 Washington Road in June for $1.2 million.
