Uber Ride Sharing Begins in Augusta

Ride-sharing company Uber, which has been trying to hire Augusta drivers for months, launched Monday in the city.
“We’re going to be rolling out our safe and reliable rides and right in time for the Masters,” said general manager Michael Black.
Uber drivers are “independent contractors” who use the Uber app and their phone’s GPS system to connect with potential riders. Drivers use their personal vehicles to taxi riders to their destination.
