Veterans Job and Career Expo Set for May 5th in Augusta

The Georgia Department of Labor and Fort Gordon’s Army Career and Alumni Program will co-sponsor a job and career expo Tuesday, May 5, for veterans and other job seekers in Augusta. The expo will be held at Fort Gordon from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, Building 14401, at the corner of Lane Avenue and 15th St.
The expo is designed to assist with the employment needs of active, retired, and reserve military personnel and their families. However, all job seekers may attend.
From 9:30-10:30 a.m., the expo will be open to soldiers assigned to Ft. Gordon’s Warrior Transition Battalion. At 10:30 a.m., the expo will be open to the public.
GDOL veterans employment representatives and other staff from the department’s Augusta Career Center will be on hand to help the jobseekers.
The expo will feature more than 60 employers that will be hiring or discussing future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available jobs. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.
Those expected to participate in the expo include: AAFES, ABM Government Services, Accustaff, AECOM, Airstreams Renewables, Inc., Alliance Tractor Trailer, Augusta Chronicle, Augusta Technical College, Augusta Veteran’s Center, Augusta Warrior Project, Bankers Life, Brick Mountain Billing, Booz Allen Hamilton, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Comcast, Comstar, CSRA Electrical JATC, Delta Airlines, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Veterans Affairs DeVry University, EDTS, E2 Consulting Engineers, Edward Jones, Federal Bureau of Prisons, First Data, Fort Gordon Employment Readiness, Fort Gordon Transition Center, Georgia Department of Behavioral Health, and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
