Augusta Color Plant Nears Operational Readiness

About three months until start up, Huntsman Corp. gave Augusta business and city leaders a trolley tour of its color pigment plant in south Augusta on Wednesday.

In a tent near rows of towering silos and piping, Huntsman officials said they are testing equipment and adding staff and should begin operation in the summertime. The plant near Augusta Regional Airport will make red, yellow and black iron oxide color pigments, about 30,000 metric tons a year, used to color concrete, plastics, food and paper.
