Columbia County to Review Construction Contractors After Fatal Fall

Columbia County business leaders have formed a study committee to develop “workable methods” for verifying whether contractors are licensed and have liability insurance, a month after an undocumented worker fell to his death at an Evans house construction site.
Bill Boatman, the chairman of the county’s Development Advisory Board, appointed residential builder Mark Ivey, commercial contractor Steve Clifton and licensed electrician Rob Zapata to design standards to create a safer workplace..
