Northeast Georgia Nonprofit Getting $1M to Make Biz Loans

A northeast Georgia nonprofit organization will tap into $1 million in capital to make loans for starting or enhancing businesses in Georgia counties covered by the Appalachian Regional Commission, including a number of counties in the immediate Athens area.

Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, a Cleveland, Ga.-based nonprofit, is slated to have access to the money as part of the initial funding for Appalachian Community Capital, a new central bank for development lenders in the 13 Southern states that are part of the Appalachian Regional Commission.
