Private Email Accounts See Official Use in Local Delegates

Some of the area’s top elected officials, including Augusta Superior Court Judge J. David Roper and nearly every Aiken County Council member, use personal e-mail accounts to conduct government business – an issue one community says it’s reviewing to determine whether stricter policies are needed.

Aiken County Administrator Clay Killian said his staff, including attorney Jim Holly and Human Re­sources Director Gayle Wolman, is reviewing its personnel manual to possibly recommend that a new policy restricting the use of personal e-mail accounts by elected officials be added as early as next month.
