Walton Foundation for Independence was recently recognized by its community partner, Walton Options for Independent Living, for its work with people with disabilities during WOIL’s Americans With Disabilities Act 25th Anniversary celebration. 

The Walton Foundation was honored at a reception for its “Philanthropy and Support of Activities and Programs That Promote Opportunities for People With Disabilities to Live, Work and Play in the CSRA.” The foundation provides financial support for people with disabilities in need, accessible and affordable housing, sports and leisure programs, camps for children and young adults, as well as special events. 

During the celebration, WOIL also recognized other community agencies for their work and support of the ADA in the CSRA: 

• Area Agency on Aging, for its work with seniors;
• Columbia County Emergency Management, for nondiscrimination on the basis of disability in state and local government services;
• ADP, for leadership in employment practices;
• Family Y of Greater Augusta, for leadership in creating accessible recreational environments and activities.
