Georgia Island Retreat Files Bankruptcy, Property Owners Claim 'Mismanagement and Malfeasance'

The owner of a 4,000-acre island retreat on Georgia's coast has filed for bankruptcy, and property owners are claiming "mismanagement and malfeasance."
Hampton Island Owners' Association Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Atlanta on Aug. 3, listing estimated liabilities of $1 million to $10 million. The island is just south of Savannah, Ga., on Interstate 95.
