Mark Branum’s decision to get into the vacuum repair business in 2002 didn’t exactly send shockwaves through the business world. Or even a light ripple, for that matter.
The president of Augusta-based America’s Remanufacturing Company was merely trying to make a buck off a load of near-new Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners – all customer returns – that had found their way back to the manufacturer.
