Multiple Georgia-filmed Movies Debuting

It doesn't take much time browsing this web site to realize we have a long history of filmmaking in Georgia. Our office (The Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office, part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development) was formed in 1973 in response to the economic activity the filming of “Deliverance” generated in rural North Georgia.

From “The Longest Yard” to “Manhunter” to “Forest Gump,” Georgia has always attracted creative filmmakers. However, since our tax incentive for film and TV production went into effect in 2008 (intended to ensure we did not lose more business to Canada and incentive states in the US), the number of productions shooting our state has risen exponentially.
