Sea Island Under Family Ownership Once Again

The Sea Island Co. is officially returning to family ownership. On Tuesday, the company announced that it will be consolidated under the Anschutz family, one of the four current owners of the company.
The luxury resort was owned for 80 years by the Jones family. It fell into bankruptcy during the Great Recession. After extensive layoffs and restructuring, it was sold to an out-of-town partnership at an auction in Atlanta in the fall of 2010.
