With the arrival of the Trump administration and high global uncertainty, there are lots of questions about the nation's economic prospects.  Will the U.S. economy finally break out of the slow lane and accelerate again?  Will the Trump policy initiatives make a difference?  Or is there a minor recession waiting on the horizon?  And what about the Southeastern United States and the CSRA?  Dr. Yandle will address these questions and offer projections for the 2017-2018 economy at the North Augusta Chamber Power Lunch on January 25th.

Dr. Bruce Yandle is an economist, writer and speaker on economics and political economy. Dr. Yandle served in Washington on two occasions, first as a senior economist on the White House staff during the Ford Administration and later as Executive Director of the Federal Trade Commission in the Reagan Administration. He is Mercatus Center Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Economics at George Mason University and participates regularly in the Center’s Capitol Hill lecture series. Yandle is Dean Emeritus of Clemson University’s College of Business & Behavioral Science. While serving as Alumni Distinguished Professor of Economics at Clemson University, he taught in graduate programs in France, Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic. He is author/editor of 17 books, including his 2014 co-authored Cato Institute book, Bootleggers and Baptists: How Economic Forces and Moral Persuasion Interact to Shape Regulatory Politics. In 2016, he received the Julian L. Simon Memorial Award from Washington’s Competitive Enterprise Institute for his work in harmony with Simon’s idea that human beings working in free markets are the ultimate resource for improving social well-being.
