The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta has been chosen to participate in the South Carolina Summer Food Service Program Tour. The tour will make stops at the following summer food program sites on Friday July 14th:

Aiken County Family YMCA                                        Barnwell County Family YMCA

Graniteville, SC 29829                                              Barnwell, SC 29813
11:30 am – 1:00 pm                                                 2:30 – 4:00 pm

The tour is hosted by the South Carolina Department of Education and End Child Hunger SC.

“We’re honored to be chosen as a part of this state-wide tour,” says Danny McConnell, President/CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta. “We are looking forward to showing how much this program has made this summer the best summer ever for our campers in Aiken and Barnwell counties.”

Children who rely on low-cost lunch plans during the school year are at risk of going hungry when school’s not in session. The Y’s Summer Food Program helps fill that gap to make sure kids can enjoy healthy meals and snacks throughout the summer. With generous support from the Walmart Foundation, the Family Y of Greater Augusta will be able to feed children throughout the year in our summer camp and after-school programs through the YMCA of the USA’s Summer Food Program grant.

State and local elected officials have been invited to participate in the tour. Guests will meet and greet with youth program staff, participate in activities with summer campers and observe lunch or snack time, depending on the site location.
