Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS Awards Local Scholarships to Ten Rising College Freshmen
Wednesday, May 27th, 2020
In 2006, the Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS® (GAAR) started the President’s Youth Scholarship Award Program to recognize area high school seniors for their accomplishments and award scholarships to alleviate expenses of their college education. Since its inception and including this year’s recipients, the GAAR has awarded $130,000 to local students. The committee selects recipients based on academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, honors, and leadership positions held throughout their high school years.
Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship and includes the following students:
Cori Brown – AR Johnson Donnell Browne – Cross Creek High School
Anna Burnett – Harlem Caroline Dixon – Greenbrier
Ja’Michael Dukes – Burke County Morgan Godbee – AR Johnson
Harry Jones – Academy of Richmond County Mason Lilly – Greenbrier
Camille Rogers – Cross Creek John Joseph Scherer – Lakeside
“GAAR is proud to give back to our community through this program. These seniors have missed so much of their Senior year due to the school closings due to COVID-19, families are hurting financially, and we hope that these funds will help to ease that burden and help end the school year on a positive note. These students have worked hard and deserve to be recognized, especially this year. The applications were exceptional this year, so narrowing it down to ten wasn’t an easy task for our committee” said GAAR President, Kim Bragg.
Applications for the 2021 scholarships will be available through all-area high school guidance offices in late 2020. For more information about the Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS, please visitwww.augustarealtors.com.
