Augusta Symphony Announces Fall Reimagined
Wednesday, July 29th, 2020
In the evolving effort to share the joy of music with our community while ensuring the well-being of our musicians and patrons, the Augusta Symphony has reimagined the first half of the 2020-21 Season. Fall concerts will be limited to current subscribers and will allow for physical distancing. Winter/Spring 2021 concerts should return to full capacity as planned, with Subscriptions (for winter/spring concerts only) on sale now and Single Tickets going on sale November 2.
For concerts in Fall 2020, Symphony Series subscribers can choose to attend the concert, dress rehearsal, or watch a livestream. To accommodate physical distancing among both the audience and the patrons, there will be shorter, intermission-free programs featuring a small chamber orchestra performing pieces including a reduced Mahler 4, Barber’sAdagio for Strings, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. In person Pops! and Family Concerts will resume in Winter/Spring 2021, but the Symphony is thrilled to offer patrons who have already purchased Pops! or Family subscriptions access to two private exclusive digital concerts - Movie Music Pops! and a Holiday Pops! - in their own homes on their own terms. Patrons can expect to see E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Film with Live Orchestra, Brass Transit: The Music of Chicago, and Halloween at the Symphony reprogrammed to the 2021-22 Season.
“It’s not the season we expected,” notes Music Director Dirk Meyer, “but because we own our venue, have expert musicians who can adapt at moment’s notice and who want to see you as much as you want to see them, I promise you Fall Reimagined won’t disappoint.”
The Passion concert from the 2019-20 season, currently set for September 17, has been postponed again to Thursday, May 20, 2021. The recording project of Miguel del Aguila’s music will continue at that time.
