Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History Announces Limited Re-Opening Scheduled for August 4th

The Laney Museum will re-open to limited tours in August. To help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and ensure for the safety of our staff and visitors, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History has implemented safety guidelines until further notice. Entry will be limited to four visitors per tour. Temperature checks will be taken prior to entering the building for tours. Tours are by appointment only on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 2:30pm. Visitors must call to schedule tours in advance. All employees and visitors are required to wear a mask during tours. Social distancing of six feet apart will be maintained in accordance with CDC guidelines. Floor markers are spaced to assist in social distancing. Hand sanitizing station are available in the museum and administration office. Employees will also clean touched areas after each tour. Online ticket sales are preferred; however, payment of fees can be placed in the drop box in the Administration Building. The Conference Room will remain closed for event rentals until further notice. Monthly Senior Luncheons are canceled until further notice.
Visitors must follow quarantine guidance. Anyone who is sick, experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days may not visit the Lucy Craft Laney Museum until they have been symptom-free for at least 14 days.
The next featured exhibition at The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History will be “The HBCU Experience, Past, Present and Future” from August 1st to September 25th. This exhibit examines the role historically black college and university have played in shaping many of the iconic figures of Augusta. In addition to the physical exhibit at the Museum, there will be several virtual and interactive components.
