Columbia County Chamber Names 2020 Business Woman of the Year

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce named JoAnn Herbert the 2020 Business Woman of the Year at its August 19 Executive Luncheon. Awarded for the tenth time, the Business Woman of the Year award is given annually to recognize a woman in the workplace for her hard work, dedication, and passion both professionally and personally. Each year nominations are opened to the membership, the nominators fill out a profile sheet and then those profiles are presented to the Columbia County Chamber Board of Directors and they select a winner. The award was sponsored by Hardwood Floors and More.
JoAnn Herbert is a true leader who motivates and inspires anyone that she comes in contact with. She has a big heart and her passion for helping the community is evident by the work that she does. The work that she does is not done for show or popularity, but truly a passion that she has to spread love and to lift up others. She has volunteered for more than 21 years on the local, state and national levels and continues to serve on many non-profit boards.
Although she retired from one career, she began another one by working in the family owned business alongside her husband, Herbert Homes, Inc.
Along with professional accomplishments, Herbert has volunteered in various capacities as chair of a Citizens Review Panel for children in foster care for Columbia for 21 years, Executive Board of Golden Harvest Food Bank for 6 years, Board of Directors Women in Philanthropy for 5 years and is the current Chair-Elect, Board of Directors Community Foundation CSRA for 2 years and a mentor for the Columbia County Chamber’s Young Women on the Way program for 2 years.
